Kali Sana - print, myths and memories
Kali Sana is a project inspired by the artist’s parents’ memories of growing up in Africa and then moving the England in the 1970s. Iona deSouza began to explore these themes during the final major project of her Illustration degree, and has continued to develop the work through printmaking on a large scale, sometimes incorporating mixed media elements with drawing and watercolour. Further printmaking is in drypoint and etching, and an area of the gallery will be devoted to a celebration of print, including some experimental works.
Iona has also created three handmade books, incorporating her prints and drawings with recorded quotes from her parents, and a series of old film photographs overlapped with drawings.
Opening view: Tuesday 26 March, 6 - 8 pm
