"Leading a creative life is important to me. I am always experimenting and developing new ways of expressing myself through painting and drawing. I like to challenge myself to work in new ways – with different combinations of media, mark-making and subject. I am happiest outdoors – en plein air – drawing or painting in the landscape, so that I can respond dynamically to the atmosphere, the colours and the changing light. I believe passionately in drawing as a way of exploring my relationship with my subject. I tend to work in themes over several years. My current inspiration is the landscape and coastline of the South Hams and the granite outcrops of Dartmoor."
Helen has painted all her life, studying Fine Art at Winchester College of Art in the late 1906s and a post graduate qualification at The Slade. She also holds an art teaching diploma from Hornsey College of Art, and holds workshops aimed at demystifying drawing and promoting creativity.
Helen has exhibited extensively in the UK, France and Australia, in both solo and group exhibitions.
