Four Seasons
Four Seasons: more than just an exhibition
“During the summer of 2013 I took part in a group exhibition with a number of other artists. It was great to share the organisational tasks and offer moral support to each other. Subsequently, I gathered together a small group of like-minded people, to share ideas and creativity. We decided to meet at least once in each season.
During an August day, at a hot and sunny South Milton Sands, we drew, talked, painted, threw colours around - and still found time for a refreshing dip. Autumn found us at the Erme Estuary, chasing runaway paper across the sands. This time we spent a couple of days of sharing ideas and working alongside each other, each in our preferred medium. In February we worked in the Art Studio at Harbour House, and Spring will take us to Dartmoor. We’ve variously met for coffee to talk about progress, and spent time painting at Bantham and Blackpool Sands. An exhibition visit is planned.
Our exhibition in June 2014 will be the culmination of the year’s work and will include sketchbooks and preparatory work.
On a personal note, I’ve enjoyed painting en plein aire, as it’s necessary to work quickly, making decisions and boldly using colour. This is in complete contrast to the slow and meticulous way I usually work. You will see a variety of each in the June exhibition.”
