3 Media Mix
Three artists from Modbury join forces for their third group exhibition: 3 Media Mix.
Each has a passionate interest in the landscape and natural life of the South Hams, and each takes a different creative path, responding in oil paint, textiles, or printmaking.
Several days out together, exploring favourite locations and sharing ideas, have resulted in a collaborative collage incorporating distinct elements of each artist’s unique approach.
Diana Booth, well known locally for her dynamic oil paintings, has recently been exploring a more abstract approach. As well as work inspired by the South Hams coast, the exhibition will also include paintings inspired by the trees seen on walks in the South Hams Flete Estate, contrasting with New Zealand and Australian seascapes, Italian landscapes and some new and striking paintings of gannets.
Jill Cooper’s creative approach to her textiles involves painting bleached mulberry bark with acrylic and embellishing with foil, beads and machine embroidery. Her inspiration includes photographs from the Hubble Telescope, flames, and the bark of trees found locally. Other new work inspired by the south Devon coastline involves the machine and hand embellishment of photographs printed onto cotton.
Caroline Barker is well known locally for her printmaking, and this exhibition will include collagraphs exploring Dartmoor, and linocuts of coastal scenes. She will also show her delightful handmade pop-up books with hand-printed illustrations.
