Greg Ramsden Artist Statement

My work has always been about the landscape around me. I use the landscape around me to create a highly textural surface within which, strange intrinsic patterns swirl, drip, pool, wrinkle, crack and scratch out an articulate image using paint in a highly experimental way.
I use the elements to help create my paintings, sometimes this means working outside to face heavy rains, strong winds and bitter frosts. I work outside in the environment effected by its natral power. Its a endless source of inspiration. The more I look the deeper the wild reveals its fantastic diversity and energy.
