St Albans City Centre, St Peters Street, St Albans

Featuring live acts:
Excel Performing Arts, Rock Choir, Hurst Children’s Theatre Group, The Chiltern Hillbillies, Rock Choir, Our Friends Electric, Living The Dream Dance Company, Co-Jones, Ricky Lopez, UR Crew, Ije Amaechi, India, Kara, Minnie Birch and guest hosts from Radio Verulam Danny, Jonny, Alex and Kathy. The light will be switched on by St Albans Panto Star Steve McFadden (Eastenders) and the cast of Jack and the Beanstalk.
An afternoon and early evening spectacular of pantomime stars, live music, street entertainers and fun for all the family. A fun fair for the children and plenty for the adults too! This event marks the start of Christmas shopping in St Albans. At the Market, Local traders and caterers kick start the festivities with seasonal themed menus, mulled wine and Christmas gifts available for people to buy. A welcoming, festive vibe will really get you in the mood for Christmas.
The two stages at St Albans Christmas Lights Switch On will be packed with a range of local talent
Two hundred members from St Albans Rock Choir will perform toe-tapping favourites including Winter Wonderland to get you in the festive mood whilst Excel Performing Arts and Hurst Children’s Theatre Group will perform dance numbers and musical theatre pieces. The Mayor of St Albans chosen charity Living The Dream Performance Arts Company will be adding their own special show stopping presentation.
The Chiltern Hillbillies will provide their distinctive brand of early American good-time music, from folk and bluegrass to country and rockabilly. Our Friends Electric will take you back to the ‘80’s with a fun fuelled set whilst Co-Jones will play a range of top party tunes.
Following the appearance of the Alban Arena Pantomime stars and the switch on itself, Ricky Lopez will lead the crowd in a rousing rendition of his Youtube hit That’s St Albans along with a suitably swinging rat-pack set.
Over on the Market Place stage St Albans most eclectic DJ posse UR Crew will be spinning some festive floor fillers and there will be a line up of excellent acoustic acts. Ije Amaechi plays guitar and ukulele, influenced by folk, jazz and African music. Both India and Minnie Birch provide soulful and uplifting acoustic folk-pop whilst Kara provide spirited acoustic folk with a Russian twist.
