Introduction to Coding Workshops for Creatives
D-Lab is excited to announce a series of Introductory Creative Programming Workshops with local digital artist and educator, Ed Fish.
Over this eight-week evening course you’ll learn how to program in Java using the popular creative coding framework: Processing.
This is the ideal course for anyone curious about coding but not from a mathematics or engineering background - perhaps you are thinking about studying architecture, computing, or design at university, want to broaden your artistic practice, or want to challenge yourself with a new skill.
The classes are informal and collaborative - absolutely no experience of programming is required. By the end of the eight-week course you’ll have enough programming knowledge to continue teaching yourself or to begin learning another programming language.
CONCEPTS COVERED:
Processing language syntax (Java based)
Variables
Conditional statements and loops
Arrays
Classes and functions
Generative design
Interactive design
MATERIALS NEEDED:
A working laptop with Processing installed:
