This piece is made from a single slab of KayaQi, formerly a very wide floor-board in a traditional Japanese house. The wood is unusual for its amazing smell - like fresh incence.
This was part of a body of work sculpted at The Harmony Centre in Noto Peninsula, 2010.
I return to Japan in 2011 for an exhibition in Kanazawa, Noto Prefecture.
