Heritage Open Days - Dewsbury Urban Sketching

Join local Illustrator John Chamberlain, in sketching buildings and details, from around Dewsbury. All levels of experience welcome.

John Chamberlain is a local Illustrator, who specialises in drawing and painting by hand. He loves to sketch buildings and people, as a way to practise and improve his drawing. For the past few months, he's been running painting and drawing workshops at Pioneer House.

The urban sketching session will start at Pioneer Higher Skills Centre (formerly known as Pioneer House). The route will involve walking round Dewsbury and stopping to sketch at key points, such as the market, the arcades and the Town Hall.

(In the event of bad weather, the session will take place indoors, primarily at Pioneer House.)

All levels of experience or confidence are welcome, and it will be a friendly, informal and fun trip, noticing and drawing the heritage buildings and details of Dewsbury. John will be on hand to offer advice.

Recommended materials: the cheapest sketchbook, a 2b pencil and a fineline pen.
