Stone Carving week long course 27 July - 2 August 2014
A week long course part of the Dartmoor Arts Project Summer School, Drewsteignton, near Exeter
This course focuses on teaching students how to carve three-dimensional sculpture and relief work and is taught by David Brampton-Greene, Simon Thomas and Reece Ingram, three of the UK's most experienced stone carvers.
Students get to explore the Dartmoor environment and use drawings, photography and clay modelling to study natural and manmade forms for their own personal project ideas.
Learn about creating maquettes, blocking out, and finding simple/complex form. Understand how to work with natural materials and learn to share as a group the success and difficulties of finding and developing a language of expression through form.
Course costs £495 ( or £247.50 with a bursary) and this includes basic materials, evening meals and entry to the summer school evening talks. BURSARY APPLICATION FORMS at www.dartmoorarts.com
