Iron Casting Course, Drewsteignton Dartmoor 27 July - 2 August
Join experienced sculptor and iron casting teacher Andy Griffiths at Dartmoor Arts Project Summer School for an amazing week of iron casting.
This course focuses upon teaching students sand casting (co2 sand) and casting in iron.
Day one to three will be spent producing moulds and preparing the iron and coke for the pour. Day four will be the spectacular iron pour, and day five will be spent opening the moulds and chasing. The final day will include a group critique of works made during the week.
Students will have the chance to gain an insight into the possibilities of iron casting and the speed of sand moulding and how it might be applied as part of their own practice. Iron Casting is a real hands-on, dynamic and intensive course. In the past it has been attended by both complete beginners and artists accustomed to working in other ways who simply want to explore and experiment.
This is one our most popular courses with students returning year after year. Andy is one of the most approachable and inspirational teachers and is able to pass on his expertise in a really exciting and engaging way. Early booking is advised.
Course costs £495 (£247.50 BURSARY RATE) including tuition, basic materials, evening meal and entry to evening events. Visit www.dartmoorarts.com for more information. BURSARIES AVAILABLE FOR EMERGING ARTISTS & ART STUDENTS
