SceneMakers

What is it?
SceneMakers will be a group of people from across North Kirklees who will play a key role in developing and deciding what arts activities will happen in this area. We are now looking to recruit volunteer Creative SceneMakers – people who are passionate about the arts and making exciting things happen in the local community.

SceneMakers is part of Creative Scene, a programme funded by Arts Council England to encourage more people in North Kirklees to experience and be inspired by the arts. Over the next two years we have an amazing opportunity to support the arts scene to grow in this area, to reveal hidden talents, to celebrate our people and places and to uncover what makes this part of the world creative and unique. We will be supporting a whole range of arts activities and events, including:

• Circus
• Dance
• Design
• Music- from Folk to Hip-Hop
• Outdoor Arts such as street theatre and pavement art
• Photography
• Film-Making
• Digital Arts
• Theatre
• Visual Arts such as painting, illustration and sculpture
• Writing, including Poetry and Spoken Word

We will be looking to get lots of new people involved; younger, older and everyone in between from every town in North Kirklees. We want to make first-class arts activities happen in some surprising and unusual spaces; in pop up shops, cafés , work places, sports clubs and the streets and buildings of our towns. No experience is necessary to take part.

As a SceneMaker you will also meet new people, develop skills and go on a variety of trips and excursions to see events, festivals and shows on our doorstep and further afield.
