Launch/Talk: Dr Steve Millington & HeckmondLIGHT Artists

Join us at this year’s HeckmondLIGHT launch event for the inside track on this year’s illuminations and switch on.

HeckmondLIGHT 2016 is set to be West Yorkshire’s must-see outdoor festive event, as Green Park is lit up with a host of new digital commissions from artists, bright light delights from Flame Oz and a countdown moment that’s sure to go with a bang!

The evening will include a presentation from Dr Steve Millington from Manchester Metropolitan University about the how light can transform our experience of place. Steve is an expert in all things illuminations and has researched the lights of Blackpool as well as the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, and he’s intrigued by the heritage of Heckmondwike’s own Illuminations.

You will also meet some of the artists who are creating work for the event- from shadow puppetry to cycle powered projections and The Momentum Wheel – a special finale moment that is sure to make the event go out with a bang!

All accompanied by some festive treats to help you get in the mood.
