About the survey
We don't just want to find out what home-based businesses do. We also want to find out what they want and need. So we have included questions on ideas that might (or might not) appeal to them to help them grow their business from home. We have included questions about planning rules, tax, business support and business/creative networks. In particular we are testing potential demand for 'workhubs' (see below) and live/work property.

What are workhubs?
A workhub is a workspace which provides services to members as and when they need them - an alternative to taking a separate office away from home. Users can drop in to work, meet and access services, or can make use of virtual services. They can also be centres for collaboration and networking. See www.workhubs.com. Some workhubs also have businesses using them daily as their own offices, creating a mix of daily and occasional users under one roof. Others only offer a drop in facility. All of them provide a special mix of services for people whose business is usually home-based. This is all explained in the survey introduction
