GeoCollective Wow Geopark Conference
Six GeoCollective members attended last week’s UNESCO International Global Geopark conference in St John New Brunswick Canada.
The group of three young people and three local artists ran workshops in local schools, sharing their unique brand of geology inspired song writing, they also interviewed delegates from around the world and performed at the conference closing ceremony.
The GeoCollective were responsible for the Doorstep Opera, GeoOpera project earlier this year which will see them work with residents of the Bay and now residents of Geoparks around the world to create the world’s first GeoOpera!
For more information on how you can get involved with the project see the Doorstep Arts CT page.
Whilst at the Conference the team from the English Riviera Geopark bid and won the right to host the 2016 conference here in the Bay when delegates from all round the world will descend on our Geopark!
The conference was wowed by the GeoCollective - in his closing remarks the UNESCO speaker praised the group and said how much everyone was looking forward to coming to the Bay in 2016 to see the full GeoOpera, in his words
'what a story that will be - the history of our planet'
