About the Bridport Prize
The Bridport Prize International Creative Writing Competition was founded by Bridport Arts Centre in 1973 and has steadily grown in prestige. Today many thousands of entries are received from over 80 countries worldwide. The Bridport Prize is one of the longest established and most highly regarded literary prizes. The Judges for the 2017 competition include Lemn Sissay and Nathan Filer. Past judges have included Roger McGough, Tracey Chevalier, Andrew Motion and Ali Smith.
The Bridport Prize gives awards for:
•Poetry
•Short Stories
•Flash Fiction
•First Novel
The total prize money available is nearly £18,000.
Bridport Arts Centre (which owns and administers the Bridport Prize) is now seeking to undertake a development process to raise the profile of the award and enable its development and growth nationally and internationally.
We welcome applications from individuals as well as those wishing to approach this as a job share. The successful candidate/s will work closely with the Director of Bridport Arts Centre and the Bridport Prize Administrator to agree the overall approach to the work. Much of the work can be done remotely, though some face-to-face meetings will be required.
The brief
Research & Analysis
To undertake such analysis of the Bridport Prize and the four different award strands as may be necessary to understand the current performance of the Prize
Preparation for sponsorship
To undertake market research to identify potential sponsors for the BP, based on information from research stage
The work is expected to be completed within a period of four months from the date of appointment. Specific deadlines and target dates will be agreed
Fee
£3,100, inclusive of expenses.
