Youth Theatre Director, York Theatre Royal
York Theatre Royal are seeking to appoint a Youth Theatre Director to lead on the development of the work of York Theatre Royal's Youth Theatre including: maintaining the existing cohort of Youth Theatre participants; expanding Youth Theatre capacity in new locations across the city; actively seeking to recruit young people from diverse backgrounds and taking voerall artistic responsibilty for Youth Theatre output.
York Theatre Royal has an outstanding track record of community engagement, developed and delivered over many years. We are very proud of our innovative, far reaching and proactive projects that celebrate creativity in our community. They are ambitious to extend their reach and enable more people to live creative and fulfilling lives.
The Creative Engagement team delivers 14 Youth Theatre and Access All Areas sessions running weekly during the school term and they work with 200+ young people each week.
Their focus is on ensuring that Youth Theatre is a fun, positive and inclusive experience for those young people; helping them to express themselves creatively, make lifelong friendships and engendering an enjoyment of theatre and culture in their lives.
Within this role, you’ll work with a talented and motivated team of freelance practitioners to shape the delivery of Youth Theatre across four city wide venues, including York St John University, York College, New Earswick Folk Hall and York Theatre Royal’s Studio. You will also be involved in the planning and delivery of key young people’s holiday projects during some school holidays.
