Theory & Practice of Asset Based Community Development Workshop
Nurture Development are one of eleven strategic partners of the Assest Based Community Development (ABCD) Institute, and the lead partner in Europe. They support communities to reduce institutionalisation and increase interdependency in community life.
They are delivering a 2 day training event aimed at the VCS, Public Sector and communities on 4 & 5 September. This workshop is an opportunity for citizens, practitioners and agency leaders to develop a framework for the effective establishment of Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) initiatives in the local context.
This approach worked successfully in Clayton West and let to the Made in Clayton West programme.
The training will give some deep insight into asset based working - using local, national and international examples but more importantly getting a conversation going between practitioners and some of their stakeholders too - tickets are £200 for 2 days training and also includes an extra free space for a volunteer/member of the community so they are encouraging practitioners to invite community members that they are working with who might be interested - in this way they can get a cross sector conversation going with Services subsidising the volunteers training costs. That's 2 people, for 2 days for £200!
