Theatre Technician, Theatre Royal Wakefield

Job Summary:

To ensure the smooth-running and efficient operation of the stage, all rear of house areas and studio space by providing a full range of technical support for the theatre’s programme of production, performance and participatory work, including building maintenance and associated activity.

Principal responsibilities:

Manage the work and assigned facilities and resources to achieve the required targets.
Carry out or organise the duties of Technician which could include but not limited to, Sound Lighting, flying and stage management.
Supervise casual technical staff and apprentices or trainees employed by the Theatre when required.
Supervise, co-ordinate and assist all visiting companies with get-ins and get-outs.
Be part of a team responsible for the effective operation and maintenance of the grid, flying systems and other stage machinery.
Ensure that current Health and Safety Regulations are observed at all times throughout the building.
Carry out regular checks on technical equipment when required.
Assist with the upkeep and general maintenance of the building.
Assist with relevant staff training programmes.
Keep all technical areas in a clean and tidy state.
Carry out any other duties consistent with the post as and when required by the Production/Technical Manager.
