Following the UK's vote to leave the European Union, this seminar will consider the priorities for developing the creative economy in the North of England.
Agenda discussion points:
• Strengthening the Northern creative economy: an overview of latest developments as part of the wider Northern Powerhouse project aims;
• A world-class creative talent pool: priorities for workforce development and retention - including connectivity and transport links; encouraging local young people to take up new creative employment opportunities and building a dialogue between higher education and industry;
• Creative hubs and the placemaking agenda: developing a supportive environment for creative start-ups and SMEs, fostering civic engagement and promoting cultural tourism; and
• Public and private investment: in relation to wider devolution initiatives aimed at boosting regional economies as the Government indicates it will underwrite committed EU funding and latest thinking on diversifying funding streams.
