Strategic Development Manager, Barnsley Libraries
Barnsley has an ambitious strategy to re-energise their Library Service, creating community and digital hubs at the heart of their communities and developing a vibrant events and activities programme to engage all members of their communities. With the recently opened Library@TheLightbox as part of the ‘The Glassworks’, the Council’s transformative town centre development scheme, and supported by plans to refurbish their branch libraries, this is an exciting time to join the Service.
They are looking for a positive and energetic leader for the Library Service’s Development Team, able to create new opportunities for events, partnerships and to connect with local communities. You will lead on information provision, digital services, stock management, marketing and promotion and outreach activities, enthusing staff, colleagues and partners, and be responsible for the development and delivery of a diverse range of activities, initiatives and events to support the national Universal Offers and strategic outcomes for public libraries.
The successful candidate will hold a Level 6 degree in a relevant subject (e.g., arts, culture, education, librarianship) with significant experience working in a public library environment. Your experience should include delivering diverse and successful activity and events programmes, library stock management, and increasing participation through targeted marketing or engagement plans.
The successful candidate will also have experience motivating and managing a team of staff, setting and monitoring targets along with the development of service plans and the evaluation of performance.
