Open call for proposals for New Music Biennial 2019 (UK)
Aiming to create a pop-up, interactive way for audiences to discover new music, the PRS Foundation is calling for proposals for the New Music Biennial 2019. New Music Biennial 2019 will showcase up to 20 pieces of new music including brand new commissions and pre-existing works. Applications should be submitted by organisations that may include: Promoters; Talent Development organisations; Festivals; Venues; Curators and Large performance groups. Support is available for either new commissions (apply for up to £20,000) or existing pieces written within the last 15 years by living UK-based composers (apply for up to £10,000).
All genres of music are eligible from classical and chamber opera to jazz, folk and electronic. Works should be no longer than 15 minutes in duration. PRS Foundation is looking for projects which contain distinctive and exceptional music and fit with the festival’s vision to celebrate the breadth and talent of those making new music in the UK, reaching new audiences through imaginative programming. Commissions awarded will involve the creation, performance and promotion of new music and enable songwriters, composers, solo artists, bands and performers of all backgrounds to develop creatively and professionally. The twenty commissions will receive public performances at the two festival weekends in London’s Southbank Centre on 5 – 7th July and in Hull 12 – 14th July 2019.
The deadline for applications is 5th April 2018 with the final programme announced in June/July 2018. Read more at the link below.
