MIF invites great artists from across the globe to create extraordinary new work for the Festival, which is staged every two years at venues and found spaces across Manchester. Their future home is The Factory, a world-class cultural space being built in the heart of the city, where they’ll present a year-round programme and artists will be able to develop work of huge ambition and scale that they might not be able to anywhere else.
They are looking for an ambitious and talented Designer eager to develop their skills and be a part of The Factory design team. This role offers the opportunity to design for a wide range of projects for The Factory and MIF, working across print, digital and spatial design. Working with design guidelines, this role will contribute new ideas and be comfortable communicating them to a range of people. The postholder will be confident in responding to briefs, managing their time across multiple projects, working collaboratively and taking initial design concepts and translating them into a range of applications.
Responsibilities include:
Working as an integral member of The Factory design team to deliver design solutions in line with existing guidelines
Supporting the Head of Design in the development and execution of a wide range of print digital and spatial design from initial briefing through to project completion. Presenting design concepts and executing design amends
Creating design concepts and moodboards that are grounded in research and creative thinking
Liaising with fellow designers, marketing, press and freelance designers in the creation of design assets and visual elements
Working on both design projects (typography, layout, artworking ) as well as image making
Essential requirements include:
A portfolio that demonstrates creative ideas and well-crafted design and typography skills
A meticulously detailed and thorough attitude to your work
Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign
Good understanding of typography, layout, design fundamentals and limitations of online and offline design work
An ability to receive and interpret creative direction
Commitment to championing representation and inclusion at every level of the organisation with a proven ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds
