Local Democracy Week Events - 9 - 15 October 2017
Local Democracy Week is a way of helping people to be more aware of, and more involved with, the issues that really matter in our local communities. An extended programme of events have been organised across Kirklees to help you learn more about local democracy.
Some of the events included are:
* Speakers’ Corner – A Living Wage, a poetry workshop on 7 October
* Special screenings of the award winning film Suffragette (various dates)
* The Political Game, a creative and interactive workshop by Hidden Track Theatre Company on 10 October
* Kirklees Question Time Live, an interactive Question Time style event on 12 October
* Meet the author and illustrator Kate Pankhurst whose books include Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World on 13 October (Suitable for children aged 7-11 (guide)
* Black History Month Celebration Showcase on 28 October
