Learning Volunteer, Yorkshire Sculpture Park

YSP is offering exciting opportunities for volunteers to join the Learning Team to support its programme.

They are looking for volunteers to work alongside artists and learning assistants to support the Family, School and Wellbeing programmes and help adults and/or children work, play and think together, as well as supporting general operations of the Learning team.

They work with a diverse range of audiences, including pre-school children, young learners and adults, vulnerable groups, families and general visitors. We have a varied learning offer, including large-scale sculpture building, outdoor making sessions, yoga and meditation, adult sculpture workshops, drop in family activities and large celebration events.

There are opportunities to work with us during the school holidays and weekends for Family events, during the academic year for the Schools programme, and throughout the year for adult learning offer.

Learning volunteers must be 18 years of age or above and successful volunteers will have an interest in learning and art and excellent communication skills. Working in small teams you will need to be welcoming, patient and pro-active, helping us create a friendly, inspiring environment for our different audiences. Learning volunteers must also have the stamina, fitness and willingness to work outside in all weather conditions.

This is an ideal opportunity for anyone wishing to gain initial experience to develop a career in the arts, teaching or working with communities as well as offering an enriching experience to those who have an interest in volunteering in the community. You will gain unique insight into the workings of a busy and dynamic learning department and develop many transferable skills, as well as enjoying the inspiring environment of YSP and its artistic programme.
