Hypervelocity
Be amused and inspired as our Pennine towns and villages are transformed by artists to welcome Le Tour. Be transported to a rural French idyll as it takes over our most 'Yorkshire' of public spaces.
Meet Le Grand Depart Famille - a life-sized willow family of spectators and cyclists produced by Carole Beavis with local groups.
Visit Holme Moss to see a hundred flags catching the breeze at the summit, beautifully framing this iconic landmark on the race route. This will be the culmination of artist Wendy Meadley's work during the 100 day festival with local community groups to depict scenes from the region.
Enjoy the delights of Huddersfield town centre, as the crème de la crème of international artistes take to the streets on Saturday with dance and performances which echo the physicality of the cyclists to come. With a big screen in St George's Square for the weekend, not only can you keep track of all the sporting action but look out for special film screenings and events, specially chosen to inspire and entertain. And of course there's plenty of local food and drink to rival even the most Gallic of gastronomy.
But we're saving the biggest surprise right until the last minute. For a French connection you really won't want to miss, visit St George's Square between Wednesday and Friday. You really won't believe what you're seeing. We promise you no two days will be quite the same!
