Fall in for Bootcamp 2.0! Screen Yorkshire Training Scheme
FALL IN FOR BOOTCAMP 2.0!
SCREEN YORKSHIRE ANNOUNCES SEQUEL TO INDUSTRY TRAINING SCHEME
Could you cut it on set of the next hit British feature film? Do you currently live in Yorkshire and Humber with less than six months experience working in the industry?
Following the success of its spring 2016 Bootcamp, Screen Yorkshire is excited to announce that it is running a second edition this autumn supported by Creative Skillset’s Film Skills Fund. The three day intensive programme is designed to support new entrants to make the leap from training to industry via a combination of sessions and first hand on set experience.
Aimed at expanding the region’s crew base, Screen Yorkshire’s Bootcamp was established in response to the increase in production in the region since the launch of our Yorkshire Content Fund in 2012. It offers participants a better knowledge of what it’s like to work in the film industry and how to break into it.
Participants are given a thorough grounding on the workings of each department via two days of sessions with leading industry speakers behind the likes of This is England, The Danish Girl & Dad’s Army. A detailed careers workshop helps participants get their CV’s into tip-top condition and offer hints, tips and insider info on career progression and development.
The classroom based sessions will be followed by a behind the scenes visit to a real life film set and a mock recce and production meeting aimed at demonstrating how each department works together to deliver the finished product. Bootcamp participants this spring went on the set of hit ITV dramas Brief Encounters & DCI Banks and Channel 4’s highly anticipated National Treasure.
Ben Reid, who took part in Bootcamp spring 2016 says:
”Bootcamp gave me the platform and the faith to jump into the work that I have always dreamt of doing. The support, encouragement and enthusiasm from Screen Yorkshire gave me the confidence to really go for it. Since bootcamp I have been attending further courses to develop my skills, winning film competitions and have been offered opportunities to work on major productions, including a Hollywood blockbuster!”
Applications are now invited from participants who currently live in Yorkshire and Humber, with less than six months experience in the industry and a demonstrable desire to pursue a career in the industry.
