Executive Producer: Manchester International Festival
As MIF move forwards on their journey towards becoming The Factory, they want to bring together a talented team of people, reaching out into every corner of Manchester and harnessing the talent and energy that is found across the city and beyond.
The Executive Producer will with the other Executive Producers to manage the producing function for MIF, effectively and efficiently, over all programmes of work including the Festival and The Factory.
This role will oversee delivery of a range of new artistic commissions and other events for the Festival and The Factory, providing support to line Producers from R&D through to presentation of the projects in Manchester and internationally.
Responsibilities include:
To manage the staffing needs of the Producing Department, leading on recruitment, induction and training, project allocation, and line management of Producer, Event Management and support staff
To work with relevant departments to coordinate the development of all relevant IT and other systems, ensuring the efficient functioning of the Producing team and its integration into the wider work-flow of the organisation
To manage budgets, working with other budget holders if required, including, commissions and other projects and department overheads including staff
Working with the Artistic Director and Creative Director, Director of Producing, Head of Scheduling and Creative leads to develop and coordinate artistic planning systems and documents
Overseeing the legal requirements for the development and presentation of a programme of new and existing works
Chairing, organising and coordinating meetings as required
To have strategic oversight of multiple projects for planning and delivery purposes, which includes:
Working with Creative Leads and artists to support the development of projects from early stages through to delivery
Supporting line producers and event managers to deliver projects on time, to budget, and to MIF’s quality and creative standards, flagging issues to the Creative Lead as necessary and working with the Creative Lead and delivery teams to resolve
Supporting the direct delivering of event type projects (eg: music gigs and commercial events) and presentations of co-productions, building appropriate delivery teams
Supporting the delivery of live/broadcast projects, working closely with the broadcast producer and Digital Director
Leading on external relationship management in particular with UK based Co-Commissioners and Co-Producers
Liaising with the International team regarding co-commissioned projects and their future life (if relevant) and ensuring projects are planned and managed with this international future life in mind
Essential requirements include:
Proven ability to lead a team of producers on the successful delivery of multiple new artistic commissions to deadlines ideally in a festival environment or in a busy producing house
Ability to work under pressure to identify potential issues in production processes and find creative solutions
Significant experience in negotiation and writing contracts for venues, artists, and organisations and knowledge of rights, intellectual property, and licensing
Experience of delivering live/broadcast events and the relevant contractual and licensing requirements.
Proven ability to draft and manage multiple budgets and complex financial deals
Commitment to championing representation and inclusion at every level of the organisation with a proven ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds
