Executive Director, Handmade Parade CIC

Handmade Parade is an arts organisation based in West Yorkshire who specialise in producing community­­ focused parades and events, and making giant puppets, costumes, parade structures and lanterns. They run their own signature events in their home valley; the Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade – a daytime parade with a very strong narrative and over a thousand participants, and the Lamplighter Festival ­­- a large lantern parade with a small but gorgeous light festival.

Following the departure of our current Executive Director, they are looking for an exceptional candidate to take on this post. The Executive Director is reponsible for delivery of the strategic plan, fundraising and bid writing, effective management of all finance systems, management of their building and facilities and networking and stakeholder relationships.

This is an exciting time to join Handmade Parade as they enter a phase of organisational development.

The post holder will:

Work closely with the board to determine and implement strategy

· Lead on or supervise all fundraising activities, as appropriate

· Ensure appropriate staffing levels within the constraints of the organisation’s resources

· Ensure that facilities and equipment are appropriate to the needs of the organisation

· Work with Handmade Parade team to develop partnerships and income-generating opportunities

· Represent the organisation on appropriate committees, network and joint projects

The role is initially temporary for 6 months, but with a view to becoming permanent. It will be a flexible position with the option to work from home, though some regular hours in the office are required once COVID restrictions are eased.
