Creative Producer, Ted Hughes Poetry Festival (South Yorkshire)

An exciting opportunity has arisen as Creative Producer of The Ted Hughes Poetry Festival (South Yorkshire.) The festival is heading into its fifth successful year and after last year’s diverse and dynamic programming, the committee are looking for a flexible, creative individual to deliver it to yet new creative heights.

Creative Producer. One day per week for approximately 35 weeks @ £150 per day. Payment £5,250 p/a. Start date approx 1st November - mid-June 2019.

Key Tasks

Artistic Program
•Develop and implement the festival program informed by the volunteer committee.
•Proactively seek and maintain relationship with outreach programs (Schools, communities, artists, and performers). Attend meetings as ‘the face of the festival’ ensuring the excellent reputation is continued.

Festival Logistics / Fringe Events (5x poetry competitions / 3x open mics / 3x residentials)
•Collect, coordinate and document festival statistics in line with expectations from bids.
•Arrange and coordinate volunteers.
•Carry out correct health & safety and risk assessments of venues/ensure insurance covers all performers and activities.

Administration
•Banking/invoice processing
•Bid writing/evaluations
•Budgeting
•IT administration, handling enquiries, mail-outs, leaflet/poster distribution

Media and Publicity
•Oversee Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts ensuring they stay up to date
•Mail Chimp
•Intense promotion of festival/fringe events
•Write Press releases

Essential
•Highly motivated, demonstrating initiative, flexibility and resilience under pressure.
•An understanding of and a willingness to implement creative, collaborative processes.
•Excellent communication skills with artists, committee members, stakeholders, etc.
•Demonstrate ability to prioritise conflicting workloads, organize by distance, via email/phone.
•Experience of working in the arts/community.
•Planning/coordination role.
•A commitment to engaging communities.
•IT competent, Microsoft Office, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Mail Chimp, etc.

Preferred
•Previous Creative Producing Experience.
•Interest in Arts / Literature / Poetry
•Experience using Indesign/Canva/Photoshop.

An understanding of Doncaster, Mexborough areas, the South Yorkshire region, and the challenges associated with engaging audience participants.
