Commission: socially engaged artist/collective, Selby Big Local

Selby Big Local invites proposals from creatives, collectives and organisations to artistically respond to their new resident-led space being developed in Selby.

In the initial phase of the development of the space, they want a project co-created with the community and are particularly interested in work that will appeal to young people. The project will respond creatively to the space and the potential use of it, understanding the daily lives of people living in the Selby Big Local area and how they might interact with the space. This will be using existing engagement findings and new outcomes as part of the creative work. They are keen to develop a creative approach to community engagement and the artist must work closely with their community engagement worker. The hope is that this project will act as a catalyst for developing further creative projects as the space becomes a key part of the Selby Big Local area, supporting and inspiring residents.

Ideally, this project will be developed and delivered during November and December this year.
