Artist Opportunity- Lines of Thought, Heritage Learning

Lines of Thought Engagement Programme Heritage Learning are working with The British Museum and The University of Hull to seek an experienced artist to develop and deliver a series of Higher Education workshops for the British Museum’s touring exhibition, Lines of Thought.

This opportunity requires the development and delivery of a series of inspirational workshops for this British Museum national touring exhibition during its showing at Hull University Gallery in 2017, part of the UK City of Culture programme. The exhibition contains highlights from the British Museum’s incredible drawing collections.

Supported through the Bridget Riley Art Fund the aim of the exhibition is to put the spotlight on drawing and its impact upon artistic practice. The exhibition and accompanying engagement programme has a core objective of stimulating individual creative responses to the collection, empowering students to make new connections in their own artistic practice. Drawing inspiration through insights into the commissioned artist’s practice and works in the exhibition, the aim of the workshop to give students time to connect to the works through thought provoking discussion and the practice of drawing, considering how artists from widely differing times and places have all used drawing to record, explore and develop ideas. The workshops will take place in the exhibition at Hull University.

Artist Key Responsibilities

· To develop a 2 x hour workshop.

· To ensure workshops effectively map into HE course requirements (through liaison with tutors via Heritage Learning).

· To deliver workshops.

· To create a concise guide to support tutors when accessing the exhibition independently

Required Experience / skills

· Established practicing artist

· Drawing forms / informs a key element of your artistic practice

· Experience in the delivery of art education up to HE level

Fixed Fee £2000
