Artist Educators (Freelance), The Hepworth Wakefield
The Hepworth Wakefield has welcomed over 2.3 million visitors since opening in May 2011 and is now firmly established as a major local, national and international attraction, winning Art Fund Museum of the Year in 2017. They present an outstanding programme of historical and contemporary exhibitions alongside displays drawn from Wakefield's collection of 20th-century and contemporary art. In August 2019, The Hepworth Wakefield Garden opened. Designed by Tom Stuart-Smith, the garden features sculptures and is one of the largest free public gardens in the UK.
They are seeking freelance artist educators to collaborate on our Learning programmes. Their Learning programme works with over 40,000 participants a year, focusing on engaging local audiences with our exhibitions programme and displays of Wakefield’s art collection.
They are looking to recruit early career and experienced artist educators based in Yorkshire. Artist educators will work across our Learning programmes, devising and delivering workshops and projects for schools and colleges, families, young people outside of formal education and our local communities.
They are seeking artists working in the following disciplines:
Sculpture/3D
Printmaking
Clay
Plaster
Mark making
Photography
Outdoor learning
Digital/animation/projection
Photography
Textiles
Poetry/literacy/storytelling/song
Performance/movement
They are seeking artists with experience of teaching in the classroom (KS1–4, FE) and facilitating teacher CPD; artists with experience of developing resources for students, teachers and families exploring visual arts, nature and architecture; and artists with recent experience of facilitating creative workshops on digital platforms.
They are particularly interested in collaborating with artists who have an interest in mindful practices, and experience of devising and delivering workshops for neurodiverse audiences, children and adults with disabilities and special educational needs, English as an additional language and those with lived experience of mental health.
