Artist Call Out for Sculpture Programme, The Piece Hall Trust
Platform is a new sculpture programme providing an opportunity for artists to respond to the rich history of textiles, making and production in Halifax, and produce a creative and engaging response. Building on the success of 2019’s sculpture commission of The Blanket by David Murphy for the courtyard at The Piece Hall, as well as an indoor exhibition of related 2D and 3D works, this project will include two new partners; The Artworks and The Arts Charity at Dean Clough (ACDC) with the aim of producing a joint arts, heritage and engagement programme across Halifax.
The Piece Hall Trust is delighted to be working on a second sculpture commission at The Piece Hall in partnership with Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and further expanding our partnerships to work with Arts Charity Dean Clough (ACDC) and The Artworks, The Trust aims to create a regular home for new and interesting visual arts. Yorkshire is known for its sculpture with Yorkshire Sculpture Triangle and new in 2019; Yorkshire Sculpture International. Halifax has a fascinating history of sculpture production, artists’ studios and residencies, this second site-specific commission will help develop putting Halifax on the sculptural map.
