90% of schools have reduced spending on arts education say BBC
Creative arts subjects are being cut back in many secondary schools in England, a BBC survey suggests. A survey of 1,200 schools by the BBC found four in ten secondary schools are spending less on facilities, three in ten are reducing arts lesson time, and some are increasing reliance on voluntary donations from parents to fund provision. The data provides an up-to-date snapshot of decisions being made in secondary schools. The findings suggest music, art and drama, as well as design and technology are all being squeezed.
