Job Opportunity
The Spotlight Theatre is re-opening its doors to the public in March 2022. The Broxbourne Council venue, close to Hoddesdon High Street, has a host of first class entertainment lined up to welcome the public back, with fun for all ages. The venue has easy access to Broxbourne station and is just north of London and the M25, with good access to airports and the rest of the UK.
Role: Interim Theatre Manager, 6-month contract (Ref: ITM)
Salary: Up to £48,214.40 p.a.
40 hours per week
We are recruiting a confident, experienced individual to manage and lead the re-launch of the Spotlight Theatre – the centre of entertainment in Broxbourne, set in six acres of landscaped gardens.
The Spotlight can transform itself from a cinema showing the latest blockbusters into a live theatre space for both professional and amateur performances. It serves as a premier wedding and conference venue and provides activities and events for the local community, including fitness and exercise classes. All these are supported by on-site food and beverage services as well as a modern streamlined bar area.
We are looking for a manager with theatre experience that can open and lead the facility from scratch while ensuring the theatre meets the requirements of legislation such as health and safety and licensing laws.
This is an opportunity for an experienced, hands-on and highly motivated individual to lead and develop the new team in delivering a welcoming, professional, and accessible service to a consistently high standard. You will promote a culture of high performance with a commitment to continued improvement whilst striving to deliver great outcomes that are cost effective.
You must have:
• Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure
• Business acumen for negotiating bookings and maximising the income potential of the venue
• Leadership abilities, creating a vibrant and customer focused environment that delivers exceptional customer service.
You will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business, which could include working evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays. Applicants will require a driving licence and must have access to a car. The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English is essential in this post.
We are committed to safer recruitment, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
The benefits package includes generous leave entitlement, a full training and development programme, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and free membership to the Council’s local leisure centres, which includes free access to gyms, swimming pools, fitness classes, racket sport sessions, a health suite and a range of generous discounts across other leisure and culture services.
Broxbourne Council is an Equal Opportunities employer.
