NO IDEA - an exhibition by Jose Manuel Gonzalez Iglesias

'NO IDEA' exhibition launch - Friday 25th November, 6pm to 8pm

This new exhibition will bring a riot of pattern and colour to the winter months! Venezuela-born José Manuel Gonzalez Iglesias, now based in Barnsley, creates lively, colourful work with the power to brighten any room. His work can be seen over the next six weeks at the Hub gallery on Huddersfield Road, Mirfield – it’s first showing in the Kirklees area.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I am an artist of Contemporary Art and Geometric Abstraction, this is where my passion and artistic development lay.
Painting gives me happiness and hope. It is a bond that connects the past with the present and my interest in aesthetics dominates my work. I pursue my painting and altering the mood of those who contemplate them and the same time arouse their curiosity about the means used.

Any physical form around me are related to geometric shapes that sometimes merge. Colors play an important role and does not follow most of the time a determined pattern, ‘No Idea’, thereby trying to produce a reaction in the viewer, in each work is a series of small stories that are part of a big history – As a friend once said, there are many pictures in one painting.

I find it very motivating to see and know the reaction my works produce of those who see them. I would love that you enjoy them as much as me.

A BIT OF BACKGROUND

From humble foster care beginnings in Venezuela, to "Los Muchachos Circus”, Jose travelled The World, tumbling, juggling and uni-cycling. Now, when not painting, he’s coaching gymnastics.
His deep love, knowledge and curiosity about contemporary geometric and abstract art, is illustrated in the exciting interplay of shapes and colour he brings to his own work.
