Food and Craft Markets to begin at Cockington Court
Cockington Court, which is home to over 20 studios that produce stunning and unique handmade crafts, is introducing some of Devon’s finest artisan foods to complement the offering.
The art and crafts Centre of Excellence will host Food and Craft Markets on the last Sunday of the month, starting on 24 April.
Marissa Wakefield, Cockington Court Craft Centre Director, said: “The Court is a fantastic place to visit throughout the year and Sundays prove popular with locals and visitors alike. We thought we could add something special by bringing local, fresh food for people to sample and enjoy while they visit the Court and experience the craft makers at work. There are so many superb food producers in Devon and we’re excited to be able to showcase them here.”
Running from April through until September, on the last Sunday of the month, visitors will be able to sample delicious produce and take home the very best local foods and crafts.
With over 20 skilled, contemporary artists and craft makers in the Stable Yard and Sea Change Studios, visitors can buy high quality crafts directly from the makers.
Visitors can see the glass blowers create amazing works of art, hear the blacksmith clinking away in his forge and smell the delightful aromas and taste the chocolate created by the chocolatier.
Marissa continued: “It has been great to see such enthusiasm for this type of market, and where better to host it than the beautiful grounds of Cockington. It perfectly complements the fantastic crafts that we have here; from sculptors and ceramicists to upholsterers and gilders. We still have a few more stall spaces so we would love to talk to more artisan food producers.”
Confirmed stalls to date include flavoured mustards, cheeses and preserves, handmade Scotch eggs, sweet and savoury artisan flapjacks, multicoloured French macarons and breads, buns, lardy cakes and cheese straws from quality Devon producers.
