The Making of our 'Lost Goldfinch’ Puppet
Our short documentary film gives an overview of the process of making our Lost Goldfinch masquerade puppet in 2021. This work is part of 'The Lost Carnival’ a series of Carnival characters, designed and made by Callaloo Carnival Arts in response to 'The Lost Words' & 'The Lost Spells' books by Robert Macfarlane & Jackie Morris.
We worked with Alison Duddle - a highly respected maker of Theatre, Puppetry and Animation - on this project. Alison also brought her beautiful Swallow Puppets to join our PopUp Carnival Parades in Mirfield, Dewsbury and Halifax.
Our Lost Carnival work was commissioned by New Carnival Company, via The Open Road project. The Open Road project is funded by Arts Council England. The project supported us and other UK partners to make new Carnival work as a way to explore disability & inclusion in UK Carnivals
