Bushey Museum and Art Gallery's 'Artist of the Month'
The Bushey Museum and Art Gallery tells the story of Bushey's unique artistic history relating to Sir Hubert von Herkomer RA and his world-renowned Art School, and others that followed. We regularly show art from the Collection in our Exhibitions.
And we also include an 'Artist of the Month' on the Museum website.
The current one is Alice Bolingbroke Woodward (1862-1981), who became one of the most prolific illustrators at the end of the 19th century. She was best known for her coloured illustrations in The Peter Pan Picture Book written by Daniel O'Connor (1907), following the original play by J. M. Barrie. Around 1920 she went to live in Bushey and occupied a studio formerly owned by Sir Hubert von Herkomer and where she remained for the rest of her life.
Do visit the website to see many of her amazing watercolour paintings!
