'Artist of the Month' - Rowland Wheelwright

Rowland Wheelwright was a painter and illustrator who studied at the Herkomer School of Art in Bushey from 1891-93, and where he became acquainted with Lucy Kemp-Welch. Using a diffuse pastel palette, he depicted equestrian, historical, and maritime scenes. He also produced some outstanding, large canvases of the heavy horses at work.
