Saturday Art Club
Learn how to create a natural artist’s palette from leaves, flowers and soil and then use it to paint a unique artwork.
That is the first of several techniques budding artists will learn at a new monthly Saturday Art Club being launched at Bagshaw Museum in Wilton Park, Batley, on Saturday, 27 April.
Each month, the club will feature a different type of art, including weaving, plasterwork and screen printing. Artists will use the museum, its collections and the surrounding park as inspiration for their creations.
“By covering a wide range of art forms, I’m hoping that everyone will find something to interest them. And I plan to teach techniques that people can continue inexpensively at home,” explained Bagshaw Welcome Officer Jess Hart who is running the Saturday Art Club.
Jess, who has a degree in Fine Art and Indigenous History, is a practising artist and has exhibited in her native Australia.
The Saturday Art Club will run from 1.30pm to 3pm and following the first meeting on 27 April, further sessions are so far scheduled for 25 May, 22 June, 31 August and 28 September.
Sessions will be suitable for adults and children from age six; children must be accompanied by an adult.
The cost per session is £2.50 per person; all materials are provided and participants can keep their artwork. Places are limited and should be booked in advance at Bagshaw Museum or by telephoning 01924 324765.
