Storming start of Aesthetic Conceptualists
Press Release Private View Inside Out 2009
The launch of the ‘Inside Out- Aesthetic Conceptualists’ show was a storming success with over 100 people squeezing into fill the top galley at Torre Abbey to look and experience the exhibits on show. The audience enjoyed a live performance by Josephine Larsen, well known for her project ‘Surreal Saloon’ at the Exeter Phoenix.
A DJ set the contemporary vibe which was offset by traditional home made cakes and tea in china cups! The body casts of Emma Carter were also served up in jelly and indeed she attended the event wrapped in clingfilm as part of her ‘preservation’ series of work.
The audience were very responsive to the work and many commented that they found it refreshing and stimulating, pleased that a show worthy of a London gallery was here in Torbay.
An international local artist who has been collected by the Arts Council and museums worldwide was so impressed with the show that he brought an interested gallery curator to the show the very next morning.
Emma Carter, Phil Dixon and Christine Sweetman are very thrilled about the potential future of the show.
