Adam Graddon Artist & Educator
The familiar, the everyday, the things we take for granted. I am drawn to the inherent symbolism, signs, superstitions and heritage of objects that surround us. Working with still life, I aim to create compositions that bring ambiguity to everyday objects.
Various combinations of ceramic versions of these everyday objects are carefully selected and arranged to reveal new values and relationships.
By exploring the nature of three-dimensional collage through the medium of clay, I seek to play on our perception of the mundane through subverting the familiar.
Housed within contemporary 'cabinets of curiosities', the collaging of ceramic representations taken from the real and the everyday aims to question such "objects" and the nature of their display. The origin, perception and composition of these forms provokes the storyteller within us.
